The Access Missouri Grant is a state-funded grant that provides assistance to residents of Missouri who are seeking a first bachelor's degree. A minimum of 12 credit hours is required each semester in order to receive the Access Missouri Grant. Students who have completed a bachelor's degree are not eligible to receive a Missouri Student Grant. Funding and maximum award vary each year.

Priority Application Deadline: April 1, 2025

The Federal Pell Grant is an award only for undergraduates with no prior bachelor or professional degree. Eligibility is primarily based on your Student Aid Index (SAI), but is also affected by your enrollment status. A minimum of 12 credit hours each semester is required to receive full eligibility, with prorated awards going to students with fewer than 12 credit hours.

FSEOG is for undergraduates with exceptional need, i.e., the students with the lowest SAI who are also Federal Pell Grant recipients. Students may receive up to $2,000 per year depending on eligibility and funding level. Students who have received a bachelor's degree are not eligible for FSEOG.

Room and Board Grant assistance is a limited University-funded program that provides assistance to undergraduate students pursuing a first bachelor's degree, who are enrolled for 13 or more credit hours per semester and who are living in campus housing. TEACH grants may be available for either undergraduate or graduate students who intend to teach specific subjects at qualified schools upon graduation. Students may receive up to $4,000 per academic year in exchange for an agreement to teach in specific schools and subject areas after graduation. It is important to note that if a student should fail to fulfill the requirements of the Agreement To Serve (ATS), the TEACH grant will be converted to an unsubsidized loan.

Webster University Grant assistance is a University-funded program which provides assistance to undergraduate students pursuing a first bachelor's degree and who are enrolled for 13 or more credit hours per semester. This aid program is available to St. Louis campus students only and is intended to augment other gift aid that the student may or may not be receiving. Awards vary depending upon the level of a student's unmet need.

Undergraduate Student Loan Options

Direct Subsidized Loans are need-based college loans and are available to eligible undergraduate students. Repayment of principal is postponed while the student is in school and during a six-month grace period after the student leaves school or drops below half time status. These college loans are made by a lender, such as a bank, credit union or savings and loan association; are insured by a state or nonprofit guarantee agency; and are reinsured by the federal government.

The federal government pays (subsidizes) interest on the borrower’s behalf:

  • While student is in school.
  • In their grace period.
  • During authorized periods of deferment of repayment.

Direct Unsubsidized Loans are non-need-based college loans that help eligible undergraduate and graduate students with paying for college. Repayment of principal is postponed while the student is in school and during a six-month grace period after the student leaves school or drops below half time status. The interest on Unsubsidized Direct Loans while the student is in school, however, is the borrower’s responsibility to repay. These college loans are made by a lender, such as a bank, credit union or savings and loan association; are insured by a state or nonprofit guarantee agency; and are reinsured by the federal government. Additionally, these college loans:

  • Are available to students who do not qualify, in whole or in part, for Subsidized Stafford Loans.
  • Have terms that are the same as the terms for subsidized college loans, except that the federal government DOES NOT pay any interest on the borrower's behalf.
  • May either accrue interest while the student is in school and then be added to the loan balance, or the borrower may begin making interest payments after the first loan check is disbursed.
  • Accrue interest during the borrower’s grace period and during authorized periods of deferment of repayment.

Parent PLUS Loans allow parents of undergraduate students to borrow up to the student’s cost of attendance minus other aid for each dependent student who is enrolled at least half-time. Students do not need to demonstrate financial need to qualify for these types of financial aid. However, the combination of PLUS Loans and any other aid may not exceed the cost of education for the term of the loan.

Private Education Loans are not state, federal or institutional programs. Instead, they are loan programs specifically tailored for educational expenses by private lenders. Since these programs are created by the lenders themselves, there are often different terms and conditions for receiving them. Interest rates, fees and maximum loan amounts are among the many factors that may vary from lender to lender. We strongly encourage students to borrow first from the federal college loan programs. Through a student survey process, we developed a recommended lender list, allowing our students to compare private alternative education loan lenders.

Student Employment Program (Work Study)

The Student Employment Program is designed to help undergraduate students meet educational expenses through meaningful employment.

You are eligible for Federal Work-Study if you have done all of the following:

  • Indicated on your FAFSA that you are interested in the Federal Work-Study Program.
  • Have received an award letter from the Financial Aid Office in St. Louis which included an award for Federal Work-Study.

Your FAFSA must be received by the Webster priority deadline of March 1, 2025.

You are eligible to be employed on campus through Federal Work-Study if you have been accepted for admission and plan to enroll as a full-time student, have been hired by an on-campus department to work part-time and have completed the required paperwork to begin work.

One option when applying for financial aid is Student Employment. Student Employment is accepting new Community Service Federal Work-Study agreements for the 2024-2025 academic year. Please email studentemployment@webster.edu with questions.
